Federation Grandeur
In early 20th century Australia, Federation architecture was to become our signature style. It moved the language of architecture on in this country and while it drew on English design, it offered a different way of living for that time. It’s become a romance, and an enduring style that many are still passionate about.
This home shows us why! It has been described by some as ONE of the best Federation homes in Australia. Certainly for Lismore and the Northern Rivers region, it’s truly a stand out.
Early records have been lost but it’s thought to have been built between 1904 and 1910 for the then Mayor of Lismore. Local timbers were used to create a stately home for his family, including silver ash floors throughout the home.
A wide entry hall creates a grand welcome, showing off 13 ft high, ornate pressed tin ceilings and beautiful leadlighting by master craftsman Greg Gallpen.
Marble fireplaces accentuate the original reception rooms, now luxurious bedrooms.
Two stylish bathrooms designed by Mark Bridges and feature porcelain tiles.
At it’s heart is a magnificent kitchen brilliantly designed to be part of the living area. A wide island bench conceals ample storage while huge windows allow a flow through breeze and an easy connection to verandahs, gardens and alfresco area.
The garden visually reaches right into the house, lush with foliage, flowering plants, ornamental trees and mature citrus grove.
Above the garage sits a spacious studio designed by local architect Julie Lipsett and master built by Andrew Gribble. Featuring stunning Tallowood floors and French doors to a balcony with incredible views over the town.
Located in a discreet and privileged position, this residence offers the feeling of privacy, serenity, space and nature, all within the grandeur of an historic home.
